Hi there. I was diagnosed yesterday with this condition after months of increasing chest pain and basically all of the symptoms of a heart attack. However, I am 42 years old and do not fit most of the health categories such as hypertension, high cholesterol, overweight, etc etc. Basically, the issue is due to genetics as my father died in his early 50s after having stents. However, I can no longer ask him about his issues and apparently this must have been passed down.

I am a little shocked when reading the information here and the fact so many people have had heart attacks due to the condition as well as other issues. This is different than what my cardiologist called it... "an annoying" disorder that would not "kill me". So now I am wondering if I should look further into the long term aspect of the condition and see what exactly I am up against because other than this, the only real health problem I have had so far is GAD... which, by the way, I thought this was for months because of being in denial about having a problem.

Any input or thoughts as to where to go in search of information would be great. I don't want to go overboard if this is something that will get better with diet and lifestyle modifications; however, I want to be realistic about what the future holds and also find out as much information as possible to pass to my children since this is apparently something that could greatly affect them later in life as well.
