My husband has always been a gym rat, but now it's MORE, he spends about an hour and a half at the YMCA Monday- Friday or Saturday if he needs to make up a day, he's at least there an hour lifting weights and "manly" exercises, trying to maintain what he has and NOT compare himself to these young dudes lifting a lot more! Then maybe 20-30 min or a 4 mile fast trot on the treadmill. During the summer I've been taking the kids to the Y as well usually about the hour mark after he's started so when he's done he joins us in the pool area.

That's amazing! I've never been a gym rat but have tried to exercise: cardio or cycling. In my 30s, I jogged regularly but my knees caught up with me later. Now in my 70s and after lots of "mechanical" surgeries (knees, hip, shoulder, wrists, feet, back and no rotator cuffs), weight-bearing exercises are challenging. I do feel better after exercising weekdays and will try to keep going. Weight lifting is probably a non-starter but I'm trying shoulder flexibility and lightweight bicep curls. Aging is not for the weak! I'm grateful for the Silver Sneakers complimentary access to our local "Y."
