It's not necessarily true any more that there's nothing you can do once you learn you have metastatic prostate cancer. There are lots of options in 2025:
1. I think you're already on ADT + Nubeqa (Darolutamide). As a combination, they may stop the cancer from spreading any further for a long time just on their own.
2. If there are just a few metastases (oligometastatic), they may offer radiation therapy for the individual metastases. That has shown huge
survival benefits in recent studies. Ask about "MDT" (metastasis-directed therapy).
3. If there are many metastases (polymetastatic), they may offer chemotherapy and/or Pluvicto to hit the cancer early and hard. Ask about "triplet therapy."
4. They may offer radiation to the prostate itself if you haven't already had that (or a prostatectomy). Ask about "primary tumour radiotherapy."
Taken together, these new approaches to treating metastatic prostate cancer with "curative" intent have been revolutionary for patients in our situation: some oncologists even believe metastatic prostate cancer is on the verge of becoming a long-term chronic disease that can be managed indefinitely.
