Mine were GREAT. And it did cure my pain and postponed surgery for 18 years. It was painful but that is why they use the twilight meds. I had no pain. You had a bad doctor. So sorry. I've had many over the years for different regions and different diagnostics. I fought to have them not cut off the Medicare list for approved procedures. Your post is cynical and not true of doctors who find the process works and do not MAKE MONEY off of the work they do individually and who are on salaries and ARE ethical. I never had a problem like you are describing and I've been doing it periodically since 2000.
I didn't have ablation but I did have spinal injections. I felt nothing other than the first pin pick. He injected copious amounts of lidocaine to numb area.
Wow, I am so sorry you had those bad experiences. I have had numerous nerve blocks and ablations and they were nothing like that. Mine we all done with conscious sedation, either Versed or propofol. The only pain I felt was a small prick for the numbing medication he used to prevent pain from the big needle. They were all done under fluoroscopy where the doctor can see exactly where he is going and what nerve he is targeting. Maybe you need to find a more qualified doctor.
I agree they will not cure anything but they can make you comfortable until surgery becomes absolutely necessary.
