My case is pretty similar to yours. I had a motorcycle accident in April 2024 and ended up with a brachial plexus injury — C5 and C6 roots were avulsed, and C7, C8, and T1 were also badly damaged. I’ve had three surgeries so far, and C5 and C6 have been reconnected. It’s been about 9 months since the last one.
Right now, my wrist and fingers are functioning normally (just a lot weaker than before). Elbow flexion has come back a bit, but still far from enough. I still can’t abduct my shoulder when sitting or standing — only a little when lying down.
The worst part is the constant pain. I can only fall asleep with pregabalin, and even then it’s tough. Honestly, I’ve been close to giving up. It’s hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel.
If you’re open to it, I’d really like to stay in touch and share recovery updates. You’re not alone in this.
Hey nice to hear from you and I relate to this on many levels trust me it has been an extremely challenging thing to face.
I’m honestly still in the same place but I do have an appointment with Mayo Clinic in Florida at the end of September to have their team take a look at it and I’m very interested in what they have to say. Who has done your surgeries and I would like to know more about that as well.
I’ve been facing a lot of the struggles that you mentioned and I’m definitely open to keeping in contact however you like just let me know your preference. I’m on social media as well or if you know of any groups for folks like us I would join you in that also.
