My PT said that my surgeon is being conservative and cautious with my recovery. Some surgeons recommend 6 weeks in the brace.
I am not having any nerve pain. There is a constant dull ache in my glute area, but not severe enough to take Tylenol. I had a total knee replacement in April of 2024 on the same leg and my knee cap is sore from inactivity.
Is your stoop wide enough for a armless chair? I am using an armless shower chair to slide off of and put my good leg down first. We have two steps to get into out house, one to the entryway and one to the house. I put the chair sideways on the threshold, sit on it, turn, put my good leg down and then using the crutches standup. I repeat that process at the next step. To get back in, I hoist myself with my arms on the side of the chair, until my tush is in the chair and reverse the process. The first few times it was hard, now it is second nature. We went out to dinner last night and I chose to sit in high booth and that was much easier than trying to get out of a low chair.
I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan by the Wisconsin border.

good morning
I live in Minnesota near Mayo in Rochester. I had my 3 week appt yesterday. guess what they took the brace off. what a relief. I asked about why now and how safe it is. My doctor said it is ok that as long as I follow his instructions everything will be fine. I guess I should trust him as he as the professional. im so happy. my leg was so weird and it felt like it was not there for awhile. by afternoon I was able to do small steps with my left leg. I am so excited and cannot wait for you to feel this joy.
I have to use my walker for up to 6 weeks until I can am able to walk completely normal with no limp and no pain. the sciatic nerve pain seems to have lessen since the brace is off. I have to call my insurance about a medi-cab as I can't drive and I have PT once a week for the next month for sure
