I had my First Reclast Infusion today.
I had my first Reclast Infusion today. I had a slow drip (one hour) and a smaller dose of Reclast because I felt at my weight I felt more comfortable with a lower dose. The Dr was okay with this. So far so good. I will keep you posted as to any side effects or with none (hopefully). I hope to give those hope during their journey or those considering this Journey. I have been drinking more water and did feel good enough to go for a 2 mile walk right afterwards with my Poodle (see photos) and also went to Trader Joe's. So far so good!

I had my first infusion of Reclast June 2024 after a year of Evenity. I was very fortunate with both drugs that I had no side effects. My rheumatologist now gives Reclast infusion every two years.
Good to hear that you did well with the reclast. I have had about 6 so far and sometimes my doctor will skip a year if my bone density test is stable. I only had flu like side effects with the first infusion which my doctor told me might happen. No side effects with the subsequent infusions
That is my case. I will not be going back for a 2nd infusion of Reclast. I’m dealing with increased arthritis pain in many of my joints but especially my knees since my Feb infusion. Meeting with my rheumatologist this week to talk about other options for treating my osteoporosis.
I had my first infusion on Tuesday. That day was fine but by early Wednesday morning my body felt like a truck was rumbling over it. Today I feel better w less body aches. I have had a few bouts diarrhea but fortunately I’m home. I’ve only been taking Tylenol. I too was told to hydrate before and after. Glad I did that. I feel like tomorrow will be much closer to normal.
Hi, I’ve just joined this group, I’ve been putting off having any sort of medication for the osteoporosis finding in 2022, especially since I’m not a good candidate for Fosomax (and I’d heard enough downside stuff to postpone any decision). So now I was advised last spring to consider a Reclast infusion, and I guess there’s only one option — nothing less than a year. But considering some of the downside info I’ve read (jaw necrosis, increasing joint pain, etc.), I’m still on the fence but I know I need to bite the bullet and do it, I’m 78 and healthy (hike, bike, swim, etc.), eat fairly well, take Calcium/D3/Mag each day, taking skyr and kefir each morning, leafy veggies, etc. I like to pretend this is all I need to do, but I just need some convincing that the majority of women taking the yearly infusion are glad they did. Curious how @jjpoodlespress and @georginas are doing and some others who’ve commented about your journey. Thanks.
I would like to know as well. I am 75 but am afraid of side effects so I said no to the Reclast infusion. I am hoping it truly works.
One option is to ask for a lower dose of ReClast. For some, even a 1 mg dose may be as effective as the standard 5 mg one.
Hi @penders20 and welcome! I had my first Reclast infusion in May 2025. I experienced no side effects and fingers crossed it remains that way. I visited my dentist prior just to make sure that my dental health was good. For reference, I've also taken Fosamax intermittently and did one year of Evenity and one year of Tymlos prior to Reclast. I've had good gains and am glad I took the leap. I felt that the potential benefits outweighed the potential risks of not being on medication as I had experienced multiple atraumatic fractures in a short period of time and my quality of life was greatly diminished. Thankfully I'm doing well now and am healthy and active again. Best wishes to you moving forward!
