My hip replacement actually relieved the bursitis. However, like you, I became aware that sitting back on my hip while rotating it during my recumbent bike rides was very aggravating to it. I am facing my second hip replacement and am going to ask if the bursa can be removed during this surgery. Should have asked the first time. Can be as debilitating as osteoarthritis and no cartilage.

Hello all , I am glad I found you. I have been having bursitis pain in my left hip after my THR in 2021. It has gotten worse over the last few years stabbing pain when I sit to long stand and walk to long . I went to Mayo for this issue in July of 2024 fanatasic doctor, he recommended to have the illiopsoas tendon released “ or lengthened in other words. That it was extremely effected by the surgery and it may help with the pain , I went back in December of 2024 and had it done since than it seems a little better but I also suffer from osteoarthritis and bursitis so right now I’m going through physical therapy. I had several Cortizone injections as well. Over the last few years. It’s very slow going. I hope it gets better. We will see. Thank you all for listening.
