Chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC): Diagnostic Experiences
I was diagnosed with CIC three years ago. I take two prescription meds for it and I just saw a colorectal surgeon who wants to do an anal manometry, a sitz marker test and an MRI defecography. Anyone have any experience with this?

I was put in a dark room, lying down. I watched a beautiful video of the ocean and listened to the ocean waves while Pachelbel's Canon played softly. I did this twice a week for 6 weeks. Then they did the manometry again and I swallowed a big pill that timed my motility. It increased 67%. I studied biofeedback for years before that but it would work for a newbie also. Check out Youtube videos on relaxation/meditation and do it daily. I also do the gayatri mantra every morning for at least 20 minutes. You can look up Devi Premal gayatri mantra on Youtube.
Thank you, that’s fascinating. Your experience makes me think anxiety could be part of my problem. May I ask how long you’ve had CIC? Mine has been decades long but worsening over the last twenty years and only diagnosed three years ago.
(I used to meditate- maybe it’s time to start again.)
At least since I was 5
Okay. Wow. My mother said they put drops of prune juice in my baby bottles so that would be a long time too.
