Replies to "Congrats on geting to Mayos- they are extraordinary. Question - how did you do on Orgovix?"
Orgovix was better for me than Lupron for recovery after I quit. Most of the side effects are caused by the lack of Testosterone, so not much difference in how I tolerated them. The down side is that Orgovix comes with a $250 per month copay and Lupron is covered 100%. Rediculous.
I have made a trip back to Mayo (Kwan) in late July and had Choline PET, and pelvic MRI. My PSA was about 30 at the time. They still cannot find anything on the scans. Dr Kwon suggested that we wait another 3 months (end of October) and do imaging again, this time PSMA Pet and full abdominal MRI. My PSA is doubling about every 2 months so it could be up to 50 or 60 by then. My only concern being is the cancer spreading to other locations during that time. My oncologist at Knight Cancer Institute here in Portland is recommending that I go on ADT 1st & 2nd generation and beat it down. I decided to stay with Kwon's suggestion and will return to Mayo then and see if he can find it.
I think if it is still not visible, he will either want me to do triple therapy including chemo or wait another 3 months. He is pretty intent on finding it which I appreciate, but a little concerned about continued spread.
