Was the 3.1 cm measurement taken using CT or at least the same method as your subsequent measurements? Different methods give different results. In your case that is a full cm difference in a short period of time (again assuming measurements were taken consistently). A good aortic specialist should be able to answer your questions (a cardiologist who specializes in aortic diseases, not all of them do and makes a difference)
