Here are some of the natural products I've tried to improve my mouth as I try to heal from OLP, @lovebug61 -
oil pulling with coconut oil, L-Lysine, rinsing with salt water that has clove and tea tree oil essential oils (not much and must be therapeutic grade), using xylitol (I follow Ellie Phillips on youtube. I can't use her protocol as Listerine is too caustic but she advocates use of xylitol), and now Genuine Essiac Tea, which was designed for cancer but can be used for other conditions. Since I'm using steroids right now due to a flare up, I can't say any of these have been effective to ward off the ulcers or the pain but I'm continuing the tea because it takes 6 months plus to effectuate a change. There is one Genuine Essiac Tea testimonial about OLP that is positive. If you decide to try it, make sure it's the 8 herb formula as there are many copycats. I'm also using a multivitamin by StellaLife that is designed specifically for dental issues, and my periodontist said to make sure I get at least 8000 Vit D IU every day along with a turmeric supplement. I'm always looking and trying different things. So far nothing I've tried has been a fix but I'm continuing the quest and am hoping the Genuine Essiac Tea will, over time, prove to be helpful.

A lot of good information. I am new to the site. OLP started about 4 years ago, it was my dentist who said it was lichen plans - i had never heard of it and since no other dentist ever mentioned before I assume it is 4yrs.
Thank you for your info, i am saving it, good to know. My periodentist just prescribed Fluocinonide, have not tried it yet.
