@leannestork Hi Leanne. Yes, I know what pain you are talking about…the base of your neck. I was diagnosed ~ 3 months ago with severe stenosis of the C2-C-6 on the right. I’ve been highly active my entire life (several marathons, weight lifting, etc) but was not blessed with strong bones. My mother had severe osteoporosis and I swore I’d never get it.🥴
I’ve held off better than she did but this neck pain upon doing the wrong movements has been quite depressing. What’s helpful? I have a fabulous Physical Therapist who is quite experienced. Not only does he provide appropriate exercises and some traction, but he’s highly encouraging! I do need to wear the neck brace around the home at times as well as lay down on a special pillow I ordered which is very helpful. The car…..ugh! Very painful but a neck pillow and lumbar cushion has helped. Lastly, I’ve had one round of steroid injections which provided fair relief but Tylenol, muscle relaxants and a heatable soft pillow to place on my shoulders to help relax my traps and necks when I overdo housework, computer, etc., has helped! Wishing you improved relief!

@leannestork - what does your neurologist advise for the long-term plan for this pressure at the base of your skull?
