I had stem cells from my hip injected into my SI joint. After about 5 weeks I started have an increase in pain in that joint that just worsened over the weeks that followed. Finally I was hospitalized to get my severe pain under control. That was at the end of December of last year. I was on pain medication, got a steroid injection and decadron to calm thevinflammation down. I would never do it again. But that’s just me.

Hi Maria,

I'm sorry for the pain you had to go through. I hope you are better now. I had not heard of decadron before.

People seem to have very mixed results, usually bad, with stem cell or platelet rich plasma injections.

I don't know a lot about the SI joint. Is fusion a possibility (although I would only do it as a last resort)? 15 years ago it was recommended I have my S1/L5/L4 fused. I opted for laminotomies instead, so no metal in my back. I'm still doing fine. Always get a second opinion.

My best to you.

Joe
