The only pain I had was in my chest that was a dead ringer symptom for diabetic neuropathy. However gabaPentin did NOTHING for it. I also had terrible itching on my legs and basically all over that got worse as the evening wore on. After switchin over to PreGabalin about 3 and 1/2 years ago the chest pain and itching went away and are still gone. Recently went from 75mg 3X per day to 2X per day since sometimes missing the PM dose didn't seem to cause issues. Unfortunately what works for one person doesn't translate to success for someone else. This is where Genomic medicine could come into play. From my DNA analysis I find that I don't get much kick from caffeine and I'm more likely to produce liquid ear wax than solid ear wax. What I do produce is solid however.
Hi @cbadder99, Welcome to Connect. I don't have pain with my neuropathy, just the numbness so don't have to take pain medication. I think others have also mentioned that after awhile the gabapentin/pregabalin dosage usually needs to be increased as it becomes less effective in treating the pain. You might want to scan through the discussions and comments from others on what helps neuropathy - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=neuropathy+what+helps.
Have you tried any complementary or alternative therapies?
