Everyone is different. I am going on 3yrs since ending treatment, which was radiation and ADT. Received a total of 3 shots before treatment, none since and I’m still dealing with side effects and developing others. Had my annual PCP checkup and got a bone density scan. I was always on the high end or off the scale for density, well not anymore. While I’m still in the good zone, my numbers did drop and my PCP is questioning why. I told him it was from the shots, no comment. No one wants to confirm that those shots are wreaking havoc with us, who are on or were on them. I’m also dealing with other effects as well. I also thought I’d recover quickly, however it seems I was wrong. The hardest part is not being taken seriously by others and outsiders. My testosterone is low and has been, now I have to consult another doctor to see if I can do anything about any of it.

It's worse than that. I was specifically told because I'm younger, had only had six months of ADT and was on Orgovyx that it was "extremely likely" I would recover "quickly." Turns out the doctor's definition of "quickly" is two years but even then he finally admitted it's 50/50, i.e. 50% of men who get ADT never recover to normal testosterone levels and 10% stay at castrate levels forever. NONE of this was explained beforehand.

Actually, they talk about how the shots affect bone health pretty much every time they have a big conference..

In one recent conference, a bone doctor spent quite a while discussing bone health after taking ADT. His recommendation was that every person on ADT take a bone strengthener.

I’ve been on ADT for eight years and I’ve been on bone strengtheners for about the same time.

I took Fosamax for six years and I’m now on my second year of Zometa. I also take 500 mg of calcium three times a day, Had to do that to get my calcium levels up just a little.

I was told to start taking calcium and vitamin D immediately when I started ADT.

If your doctor didn’t inform you of these bits of information, you need to find yourself a better doctor. You want a Genito urinary oncologist, They specialize in prostate cancer, unlike medical oncologist, which work with all kinds of cancers.
