Our Ostomy Nurse at Mayo Jax suggested we use Flonase. That was 4 years ago and although my husband’s skin is an angry red color, it has never had any sores or infections. I don’t know what optimum so maybe someone can enlighten us. He dries the area with a cool hair dryer before and after applying the Flonase. He uses a one piece pouch and changes it out once a week.
