After years of stomach issues, 20 years on PPI’s, Linx surgery which broke and caused ulcers and stage C esophagitis I was finally diagnosed with Celiac. All biopsy’s came back negative since I had cut out carbs in the 90’s but finally Mayo did the blood work and came back very high. My dad died of non Hodgkins Lymphoma in his 60’s. Now looking back he always had the same stomach issues I’ve had. I’m 73 and of course concerned about it. Not sure if it’s refractory celiac. Seems like it has caused other autoimmune issues so hoping being on a strict diet will help.

A few years ago a respected study found the overwhelming majority of refractory diagnoses were actually the result of cross contact. As strict as your own gf diet may be, you may be exposed to gluten any & everwhere—just as some celiacs experience no or few symptoms, others are highly sensitive.
