Proton or photon radiation for meningioma

Posted by subee @subee, Jun 25, 2025

Please share experience with proton or photon radiation.
I had type 2 right parietal meningioma. Surgery was successful but a small bit of tumor left along sagittal vein has grown a very small amount. I need to make a decision on type of radiation. I’d be very grateful to hear people’s experiences with radiation. What type & why? After effects? Fatigue? Hair loss? What else do I need to know?
Thank you

Yes, the mask was intimidating to begin with, but as with many things you learned to manage.

Haven't been on recently due to another seizure. Have had many in past weeks. This last one is making it hard to come back from.

Hi all, I read all the comments in this thread twice, and it helped me stay calm. I am starting my process to get scheduled for proton for brain stem meningioma that is left after the surgery and showing regrowth. It's been a very hard emotional journey and any tips or comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

@strokova I’d be very interested to know how it goes. This is a very real possibility for me in the future and I am nervous about it.

@strokova totally know what some good messages can do for ones emotional state. me it is simple i pray a lot , have groups and friends and family all across the globe that pray for me. a host of family i am pleased too call my brothers and sisters all nationalities . now to you, first believe in yourself, have someone to make sure your fighting to see when you wake up. prayer chains are so energized with peoples faith. I'm even sending you a prayer now=========sent and tats my story and sticking to it. you have so much support here its crazy but it makes peoples days brighter even if its a hug, wink or a smile. keep us posted please.
