Based on my own home personal tests it is but everyone's risk tolerance is different. My feeling is if I'm going to hyper-focus on anything it ought to be air way clearance top of list, including but not limited to, caution around shower water and for drinking, gardening with a mask, avoidance of conditions well documented that harbor difficult to eradicate bacteria including steam rooms and indoor pools. Of course, keep equipment clean and sterilized; it's possible with slow growing NTM daily sterilizing might be overkill.

Scoop- I asked Dr. Falkinham the other day about MAC on neb cups and Aerobika and this was his information emailed to me in response.
"Some years ago we received Aerobika nebulizers to identify methods to disinfect the devices. The idea was that NTM were able to attach to the interior walls and grow, ultimately forming a biofilm. The biofilm could permanently expose the user to NTM. We’ll put first experiments showed that NTL cells did not attach to the interior surfaces of the Aerobika nebulizers.
Therefore, we didn’t continue any disinfection measurements." Joe
