I have metastatic SCC for 13 years now. Please don't hesitate to travel for your MOHS surgery. Try requesting a referral to a large cancer center. We drive 10 hours to Mayo Clinic in MN from Ohio for all these years and I am convinced that is why I am still alive today. Your SCC is obviously aggressive and perhaps there is a surgeon elsewhere who can see you sooner. Good luck. I hope your appt brings you some good news today.

Wow! I’m glad you’re doing well, in spite of your SCC. My dermatologist said it has grown back larger so it’s probably deeper than she originally thought and the pain I’m having is from the growth pressing on a nerve. She prescribed lidocaine cream for relief. She’s not worried that my appt is still three weeks out. She contacted the lab that did the initial biopsy and asked them to perform a test to tell if the SCC is metastatic.
