How fast does adenocarcinoma grow??

Posted by bradthompson88 @bradthompson88, Jul 8 8:50pm

In Les than a month, I went from 2.2 cm to 3.4 cm on the neck and from 7 liver metastisis to 20.

I start chemo finally next week and trial starts tomorrow. I feel like I have gotten really behind! Never imagined it would move that fast.

Is this typical??

I think at 12 weeks. Every 6 weeks is keytruda.

I am now discharged from Mayo. The photodynamic portion of my trial
Is over. The doctor said it altered the tumor and made it more soft(he said my tumor was very hard). I still have pain and am struggling to eat sometimes. Still need a little oxy but can go without a dose as well.

It may have been a challenge with the darkness and the pain, but if it helps, it is so worth it. Now, I am feeling very tired. Got my keytruda yesterday. Not sure if it is a side effect or if I am just tired from poor sleep at hospital.

You’re having an identical experience/ reaction to the same Mayo trial as my wife has had. She started about 2 1/2 weeks ago with the dark room, etc.. .quite a bit of fatigue, periodic back pain and abdominal pain.. We are about to have our second round of chemo tomorrow but as you describe it, it sounds like a very similar situation. Best of luck to you and all of us, we’re hoping for the best.

This helps since we are doing the same thing! Did the back and abdominal pain continue or did it quit after awhile? I have had a little trouble eating without taking Tylenol and sometimes Oxy. Once it kicks in I eat as much as I can. Lost 5 pounds last week…which surprised the heck out of me.

When will they scan again to see if the chemo penetrates more swiftly?

Rest. Tomorrow is a new day!

I thought I had replied to this. Sorry. I believe it is after 12 weeks, but I could be wrong. There is a 6 month one I’m sure as the doc in charge of the study mentioned that one.

We are here now and asked if it would diminish. Back pain is related to the tumor and will decrease as it shrinks with the chemo. Stomach pain was related to pancreatitis from her stent but is getting better slowly.. Both back pain and stomach pain mitigate with the Tylenol and Oxy (at night). It helps with eating while feeling less pain..! They are encouring us to stay ahead of it with the meds at this low dose..

We are headed to Mayo right now and get there tomorrow. Is she at 5mg Oxy? I don’t have a stent as it hasn’t blocked my pancreatic duct and I don’t have a gall bladder. I am noticing less pain but before the trial I had almost no pain for several weeks anyway.

Next chemo will be on Monday in two weeks. Perhaps we will be on the same day?

Yes 5mg.. she did have pain of a different nature before the trial.. so, yes this is unfortunate.. but that pain is now gone, replaced by this one.. good news with improvements in blood chemistry today.. good luck to you. Yes, two weeks from today!

Would love to meet up if we are there at same time. Are you lined up with caregiver support? We just did a zoom from the Seena Magowicz foundation. I found it very helpful. I want to connect with others like me and this was great!
