Photon Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)

Posted by buckeye54 @buckeye54, Oct 14, 2021

I am looking for individuals who have had PHOTON (not proton) beam SBRT to tell me about their experiences. Thank you in advance.

Still looking for someone to comment who had the Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) using traditional photon beam radiaton who would be willing to tell me about their experience during and after treatment. Thanks.

How are you after four years?
I had SBRT five treatments from April 9 to 21 this year. Unremarkable experience during my treatments. For a few days after the last treatment, I noticed some mucus and traces of blood in my stool. I reported it to my RO but apparently it wasn't a cause for concern; it cleared by itself. I received a comment that my experience indicated some radiation damaged on my rectum, it was self-healing but the blood veins were still sensitive hence the stool picked up some blood as itovef past the rectal area
I had no SpaceOAR -- this may or may not have prevented the bleeding. I received another comment that if the bleeding comes back after 8 months, it would be a concern. I'm now 2-1/2 months post-SBRT, surprisingly still having infrequent, spontaneous erections after 3-1/2 months of ADT (Orgovyx) but I have little or no libido (Testosterone 0.36 as of July 7 test). Nothing else to report.

Buckeye 54,

I found myself telling you my experience from photon radiation, but it was only this year. I would be interested in what happened over 4 years later. I read that radiation issues can happen years after.
