I need help I stay nauseous all day long about 5 days a week sometimes more. This has been going on for about 5 yrs now. I have been to my GI doctor and had all the testing for GI related issues but everything has came back normal. I was sent to a neurologist and had all kinds of blood tests and everything was either normal or negative. I have been on zofran odt for 3.5 yrs or more and so it don't really work anymore. I have also been on amitriptyline 25mg and it didn't help. I was prescribed patches you put behind your ear every 3 days but insurance didn't want to pay for them. I have been on promethazine and it is the only medicine that seems to work. My doctors now don't want to write it anymore so I am on my last refill. I am miserable and can not continue to be like this. Please someone help me.

That sounds very distressing. I have no idea what your issue is, but I will say that my mom has longstanding, intermittent nausea for which no cause can be determined. I have always pointed out to her that she gets nauseous when her anxiety flares. When she takes meds for her anxiety, the nausea resolves. I hope you can find some answers and help.

Sounds like an acid stomach condition. Do you have "heartburn" as well? Mention this possibility to your doctor. Maybe something like Prilosec might help.

I, too, have recurrent multi-day episodes of nausea. Sometimes worse days than others. I heard a ve gastroparesis which is slow emptying of the stomach for which I take Reglan (metachopramide) and zofran which help. However, that doesn't explain the episodic nature of the symptoms. I recently met with a new gastroenterologist who has ordered a couple of test to see if we can find a cause. Results of one test show a high degree of inflammation. But that's just an indicator and not diagnostic. Next scheduled test is an MR Enterography for a detailed look at my small intestine and surrounding organs. To be continued.

I'm keeping a diary of foods I eat, exercise and levels of nausea to see if I might be able to identify a trigger food. So far high fat foods seem to be a problem--no more pizza or baby back ribs! I'm a double lung transplantee so I take many drugs which may complicate a diagnosis.
