Y90 AND Captem Combo

Posted by laree @laree, Jun 26 12:26am

Pnets KI67 25%. My husband had 3 captems cycles. The last cycle had toxicity and became sick. Anyone experience Y90 procedure for Pnets mets to the liver? I have read many net patients use Captem to shrink tumors for a few cycles. Not sure why the Dr wants to dive into Y90 already. Unless it is because my husband got sick the last cycle of Captem. But didn't use anti nausea meds either, unfortunately. Anyone have good results with Y90 and was successful?

What does the trial involve? Ive had both Y90 and CAPTEM. Curious about what the trial treatment plan involves.

Basically a couple of days before the Tem tablets you go in for Y90 treatment at the same time that you are in the Captem cycle. The Y90 is not done during the 2 week break from Captem.

What is the name of the trial? And do you know where it is being done? Thank you! Are you participating?

Steve Jobs was originally treated at Stanford (where my husband had his pancreas surgery) but then went on a holistic approach. You just never know.

I understood that Steve Jobs chose the holistic route first and then eventually did the surgical route or at least took medical advice after a period of time and that he also very much regretted waiting for treatment

UCSD but I think there are other locations offering it. Our Dr is suggesting it.

I had Y90 radioembolization of one tumor that was growing while others were stable. It was very effective in destroying that tumor. My only side effect was significant fatigue. I continue on CAPTEM protocol.

A lot if times we go to the local mtns for the holiday. But I went last year and there was a heat wave so that year was also different. My Mom said she didn't feel like it was the 4th. It was quiet. We saw some fireworks in the city, my son and I. Just hanging near home and rushing around less I would say. Some boutique thrift store shopping which I would also do in the mtns. I am really trying to do things as normal as possible. I am concerned how the Y90 cycles will land. August there is a bday and October my husband's bday and our Anniversary. Maybe we can navigate around it somehow.

You folks sound active. That is great and helps. You also seem willing to adapt. Unfortunately, that does come in handy. The cancer, the treatment, the mental and emotional side of it are all difficult. How are you coping with them?

Hello @lu7,

As you mentioned being interested in a clinical trial, here is a link to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation website where many different clinical trials are mentioned, https://www.ncf.net/clinical-trials.

I hope you find what you are looking for here!

I bookmarked the page as it looks useful. Contacted one of the trials, don't know if they will respond. Sometimes it seems they only talk to other doctors.
