Herbals for SIBO

Posted by johnbluffside @johnbluffside, Nov 17, 2022

Dx with SIBO thru hospital controlled test. However no diarhea or constipation. Brain fog, abdominal pain, fatique and joint pain, stiffness/ pain neck & back. Ongoing 3 years every test imaginable only test that was positive was a blood test and showed high inflammatory markers. Tried Lowfodmap diet with a dietician . Tried hypnotherapy in person and tapes. Tried 6 different anyidepresssnts horrible side effects.
Accupunture & massages.

Tried xifian numerous times. Always comes back. Wondering safety of using herbals? GI doesn’t believe in them .
Apple cider vinegar
Candibactin AR & BR
Allicon
Beeberine
Biofilm/ biofilm disruptor
Dysbiocide / Biotics Research
Anyone have similar experience?
Thank you!

Hi there. Do you happen to be in the Midwest by chance? I’m trying to find a provider that can assist. Been given antibiotics for methane SIBO and haven’t started yet but the functional med provider I’m working with and have been for a couple years had me purchase more items and it’s been about 11 weeks no improvement.

Hello, I’m not in the Midwest. I am in California. And my Functional Medicine MD is in California. And I believe she can only practice in California. However you can search for a functional medicine doctor by city and state at this website - ifm.org. Each doctor on the site has their education information and conditions they specialize in.

Sorry to hear about the illness from the antibiotics, @marksmom. Sounds miserable.

Yes, I agree with you about medication differences among individual people. I've found this past year in my personal experience that medications do not all work the same on different bodies with different reactions to drugs. A medication that made me really quite sick (semaglutide - Wegovy) had zero side effects when my husband also took it.

You mentioned your GI doctor was impressed with your findings, marksmom. What did the doctor say about your reactions to antibiotics for your SIBO? What did he or she say about your findings thus far?

He also has SIBO and was very accepting and appreciative of the information that I provided to him!
He understood how severe my reactions were to high dose anti biotic!

Yes, they are. But after no results from my regular doctors and then being told by the gastrointestinal doctor to never take the PPI again, my options were not limited but didn’t exist in my health care system.
On my own after some reading and research, I omitted all gluten products, became dairy free and sugar free. After 3 weeks, I felt better and that is what convinced me to try functional medicine. There is a book by Dr. William Davis titled “SUPER GUT”. It has very helpful information if you are motivated to self help. I found it useful in a few ways. You can purchase on Amazon.
I wish you the best. I know it’s not easy. It’s a long journey! Take care.

Thank you so much for your input. I also have the same diet you have. I will buy that book!
Besides having SIBO, IBS and Diverticulosis, I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis which is connected to gut problems.
Also, I noticed how stress affects what I can eat! If stressed, my stomach tightens up and I have problems with some foods I can eat when I am relaxed!
