Well my 55 year old daughter was diagnosed with with a non alcoholic fatty liver & cirrhosis being there already & we did the diet etc that was recommended & Low salt but she already had diabetes. Was prescribed medformin meds for many years, those years she wasn’t taking care of the diabetes . So was having shortness of breath & found out she had anemia. After many upper & lower gastrointestinal test couldn’t find anywhere she was bleeding, so then discovered she had very low iron & gets iron infusions 2-3 months apart. She’s very tired all the time. Last few months she has hospital stays with low sodium & was careful not to take in much sodium but it dropped several time & had to be in hospital, one time it was a low of 109 & had to call ambulance because she was combative & lethgic & nauseous. It’s hard to keep the sodium at 135 because she’s only allowed 2 liters of liquid a day, & being diabetic this is so hard. We go next week to New Orleans to meet with a transplant team to see if she will be recommended for a transplant. All of this relates to the cirrhosis & spleen. Hope to get good care if she gets a transplant, but it is so overwhelming, & to see your child suffering

I am so sorry to hear about your difficult journey with your daughter. Seeing your child suffer is overwhelming for a mother. I hope she will be recommended for a transplant. In my post, I meant to state that people, of course, can get cirrhosis from Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease without drinking at all. To add Diabetes to the mix is so difficult, I understand how hard this must be. I eat fresh strawberries, blueberries and grill chicken and fish in extra virgin olive oil, and make sides with spinach, broccoli and swiss chard with garlic, olive oil and lemon. It is not only low calorie, but there is so much more fiber eating fresh vegetables and fruit, as juice, even when freshly squeezed can have more sugar. I drink coconut water, NOOMA, in Watermelon Lime as it has 30 calories, electrolytes and no extra salt or sugar. Wishing you all the best in this difficult time.
