My podiatrist, neurologist, and my primary care doctor have always told me to always wear shoes inside and out

Same. Podiatrist told me to wear some type of shoe while indoors-
I have a slipper that has a metatarsal footbed. I wear them indoors only - and try to remember to trade off sandals every other day ( I live in a warm climate)
