Root canal without Epinephrine

Posted by sophiarose @sophiarose, Jun 6 7:23am

Sorry I missed the group last night
I so wanted to make it home from the dentist to discuss my situation
I have a functioning bottom right wisdom tooth that needs a root canal
I am to be told it can’t be done because I can’t take epinephrine if epinephrine isn’t used I will be getting a root canal without sedation
Has anyone else had this problem?
The dentist and my oncologist spoke and decided it needs to be pulled
I will have to be put completely out because again I can’t take epinephrine
The problem now is if I am put completely out I have to be given
500 mcg of octreotide before and if needed after so that I don’t have a carcinoid crisis
I live on Long Island just outside of Manhattan
Anyone know an oral surgeon that will accommodate?
My final issue is that Medicare will not pay because it is dental even if I have to get this done in a hospital setting
If anybody can give any advice I would appreciate it
Thank you

Have asked another dentistry question as a new discussion. Our oral surgeon is talking directly to oncologist for a dental implant. Did not know this re epinephrine.

My oncologist checked with the pharmacist and they said epinephrine was ok. Had 2 root canals. Is this not correct?

I don’t know. See other parts of this discussion where it seems to be problematic. Have not been told this.

EPI????
There is a lot of information about how dangerous it is with people who have NETs
Some root canals can be done without EPI mine would have required a lot of EPI
My oncologist wasn’t going to allow me to take the chance so yesterday I had my tooth removed and didn’t take the chance of having a carcinoid issue from to much EPI
EPI plays a major roll in your body
Be careful
Be safe
