Glioblastoma stage 4 -my story so far

My wife has a stage 4 glioblastoma and really the only positive on genetic testing was that hers is GMGT methylated. That made her a good candidate for Temezolamide. She recently finished a six week course of the temezolamide along with 30 radiation treatments. She has been hospitalized twice; once for brain swelling that required some high dose steroids and she developed a blood clot in her lung just as she finished treatment. She is unable to walk unassisted and cannot speak more than a few words. Her symptoms don’t seem much better. Fortunately she has no pain. In three weeks she starts back on a higher dose of the chemotherapy medication for 5 days every 4 weeks. That will go for six months. Trying to stay optimistic but not seeing much improvement so far is discouraging.

My husband was diagnosed in April. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and your wife.

Discouraged shows regardless of the facial effects. Stay positive and pass on your best foot forward, be the leaning post with enthusiastic shows of compassion. The brain has unbelievable recovery sections, pray 🙏 rest is a part of that too. You've got this just let it know you do. Best thoughts your direction.

Sending positive thoughts your way. What were her symptoms from brain swelling that you knew to taker her to the hospital? My son is grade 4 brain tumors also with methylated cells. He just finished 30 radiation treatments and will be starting temezolamide

My husband was diagnosed with GBM in 2022. He was not a good candidate for TMZ. He only did about seven radiation treatments. The treatments just made him worse and his bloodwork wouldn’t allow for anymore. Some do get benefits from radiation treatment from what I have read. But it made my husband bedridden for his last six weeks. I wish you the best.

Hello,

I'm going through the same treatment, I'm down to the last 5 days as of yesterday. Not sure what will happen after last treatment. I know the doctor will request another MRI to compare with prior tests and I have some blood work to do at the end of the month as well. I've been researching other treatment options too. Time will tell...
