@pediatrixjlr I forgot to add one thing….. you need to be your own advocate.
Before I had my first appointment at the Mayo Clinic, I had my local doctor perform an x-ray, MRI, and CAT scan and then sent all the imaging to the Mayo Clinic so the surgeon could review it prior to my appointment.
I know each case is different and what you and your son are going through is completely different than what I’m going through, I just want to stress that it’s OK for you to ask questions and if you do research, you can request tests. All they can do is say yes or no.

Regarding testing, I avoid doing local testing and lab work if it is relevant to my treatments at Mayo. The reason is to have consistency in testing and reporting.
I had a pulmonary function test done before transferring to Mayo and they were going to repeat it before my surgery, but I gave that one to them because it was recent. After I discovered errors in the report and now I don't have that test as a baseline for where I am now.
