Don't let the medical people let you hang i.e, having a MRI we will get back with you 10 days from the tests. That can do a lot of negatives with your mind Girlfriend was PG ,1st time, medical told her that something was wrong. Left mother & father hanging for over a month with the question in the air. Issues was she was having twins but what a terrible way to treat a 1st time parents. Be firm be polite but be insistent that you get your results in a very timely fashion. It is your body you are the patient and you need answers now not ten years from now. I am having eye surgery & my appointments keep getting changed without consulting me Have an appointment coming up & have been given 3 different times So I will pick the one that suits me They will get upset but I am taking control this is what you need to do on your journey of finding out what is going on. Wish you much luck
I'll be headed up to Rochester on July 12. I'm nervous and anxious, not about Mayo, but about test results. I developed slurred speech a few months ago and it has not improved. Not one test I've had so far can confirm a stroke. I'm otherwise very healthy. Good balance, memory, coordination.....all the things that might go along with a stroke. I have a tongue issue that makes eating challenging. I can swallow but I have difficulty moving food past the back of my tongue. I know I'll be in good hands but the unknown is very scary.
Thank you for a place to share such private thoughts.

Welocme to Mayo Connect. You will be in good hands and in a very welcoming city (Rochester).
Everyone has anxeity when going to a new location and clinic, but I think from time you arrive you will find welcoming and friendly smiles. What I like best about Rochester, is there is always someone around to help. I often see people standing looking at sign and stop and ask if they need assistance. Guess part of MN nice.

Research solanine that is in nightshade plants like white potatoes, tomatoes and peppers. I was having breathing problems and I stopped eating white potatoes. My breathing has been normal and I continue to not eat white potatoes. I do eat sweet potatoes that are not nightshade and do not have solanine.
@merlin62 Two suggestions: 1. TALK with your spouse. It’s important that they know what’s going on with you. Remember, you just got married so you are ‘a couple’ and should share. For example: my husband of 56 years knows all about my autoimmune illness and can discuss it with the doctors. And 2. Ask at your doctor’s office if they have a social worker on staff and then make an appointment with them. They will listen to everything and probably guide you through some tough times.
Will you try and talk with your husband tonight?

1 ReactionI feel alone, but not lonely, if that makes sense.
I'm very much alone in all this. No support system.
