Both my endocrinologist & PCP say mine shouldn’t be diabetic cause typically doesn’t progress if sugar is controlled. I guess we will see. I do take a statin. But I have for years.

@aunttonipage , I hope you have a good experience with your upcoming appointment. I temper my expectations after multiple attempts to get diagnosis for my issues. I’ve had type 1 diabetes for many years. No eye or kidney damage, but I’m not sure about neuropathy. My neurologists (2) say its not neuropathy….so….idk. What tests have you had? Any vitamin deficiencies or injuries? Emg tests?
I still haven’t had spine tests. Thank goodness I don’t have pain.

My guess about doctors is that neuropathy is pretty much treated the same way regardless of its cause. (Though I realize some spine procedures are said to offer promise if corrected.) And that’s with medication.

I take a statin too and am about ready to do a trial pause….trouble is my GP says stopping a statin is risky immediately afterwards. So, idk. It’ll be interesting to see what you find out. What do your endo and PCP say? My PCP says he doesn’t believe my small dose statin is the culprit.
