I don't have MAC and rarely bring up sputum and that probably impacted the answer I got. My doc and I decided my inhalers followed by Acapella (or Aerobika-he thinks they're equivalent) and huff coughs would be ok. It was a "gentle" hiking trip and that helps, too, if you'll be active.
My bigger issue there in first small villages was accessing distilled water for nasal rinsing if that's an issue.

Thank you. I don't have MAC either and rarely bring up sputum, but I think I will take a small portable inhaler and follow it up with the Aerobika. I will be staying in cities in Italy so I'm sure I can find distilled water in the hotels.

When I travel, I carry aerosol sterile saline for rinsing sinuses if needed. There are a number of them available.
