I think we are prone to assume the worst. It scary facing the unknown. And even worse with the "C" cancer word involved. And then we get so many messages thrown our direction from doctors, family, things we read, arm chair experts. And all that gets tossed into a blender and comes out messy.

I'm now ten days post RARP. There were some hard things but everyday gets better. There are two steps forward and sometimes steps back. But I went for a nice walk today, stayed dry all night and day except for one small dribble (pretty amazing three days post catheter), and worked a bit. And the best thing is in the midst of this, I'm glad for the decision and that the cancer is out.

exactly that! Most people have very favorable results from RARP but some don't ,so it plants the seed of negativity in my my head.

Perfect example. I had surgery in March 2020. I was cancer free for 3 years but then PSA started to show up. Finally, got to .20 which is MSKCC's tipping point for follow up. So starting in late March I began a six month regimen of ADT and then 5 weeks of radiation which I just completed. One very credible study showed that the 5 year outcome of non-recurrence was about 87%. Pretty good odds, right? But where does my mind go? " Well that means 13 % DID have a recurrence". So I will be sweating my quarterly Prostate Specific Anxiety tests for 5 years.
