61 years old with MDD and anxiety (PTS). Over the past five or six years I have been on varying doses of (one medication at a time):
Lexapro
Duloxetine
Fluoxetine
Bupropion
And now I have been on Auvelity for the past six months.
Some have worked, some worked for awhile, and one had a very negative side affect with my HOCM. The thing they all have in common is I have neither cried nor felt joy while taking them. I'm signicantly less depressed, but I'm stuck in the mid-range emotions. Trying to expand my emotions beyond flat is the main reason I have been chasing the right medication in the right dose.
Auvelity brought the most dramatic increase in my mood level than the any of the others.
In May, I completed Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for depression and anxiety. What a difference it has made. Prior to TMS, even on Auvelity, I didn't want to get out of bed. Now I'm a functioning member of my family!
TMS works for some and works for different lengths of time. The psychiatrist recommended I not change any medications for a year (also taking trazodone and serequel at night) so I am keeping my fingers crossed that when I can stop taking auvelity, I will regain my full range of emotions.
All of that to say I have had a positive experience with Auvelity.
Hi! 66 year old female also on Auvelity for major depression, along with Xanax for anxiety and sleep, trazadone for sleep and Vyvanse in the am for ADD. Auvelity is the best depression medicine of all the various meds I have tried over 30 years. After retirement, I tried both ECT and Ketamin without any success. I am interested in the TMS you did. It sounds like you are not still doing it? You said you “completed it.” Was it only a trial or is it time limited? Was it implanted in your chest? Have the positive effects remained? Have you heard anything about external vagus nerve stimulation? Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
