@nancy82415 Are you talking about full fusion as opposed to arthroplasty? I had arthroplasty on both thumbs, using the tightrope method and after a lot of PT can still type competently. My friend had fusion on his, and while he doesn't type all day, he is quite limited. He also had to have his cameras specially modified so he can use them.

@sueinmn just the fusion of the cmc joint. It is being done to position my thumb in a more natural position. I have nerve damage in my hand due to the syrinx inside my spine and I can no longer bring my thumb into my palm. I have already adjusted to a new way of typing as I really have only use of two of the remaining four fingers for typing. My other hand is normal. Which I am very thankful for.

My team of doctors I have are so skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate. I am truly blessed. I like to call them my Dream Team! Could not have gotten this far without them. It has been quite the journey.
