Hiatal Hernia
I would love to hear commentary from people who have a hiatal hernia and what you do for it or have done for it. I was given a cardiac scan of my heart area for something and the scan 'accidentally' picked up that I have a hiatal hernia (totally unrelated to cardiac issues). I want to know what has worked for others. Yes, I have a doctor but feedback from actual patients is beneficial as well. I am not looking for medical advice for my own situation, just wondering about what has worked or not worked for you. Thanks.

I never had that surgery.
I had hiatal hernia repair but it came back after three months. Has anyone else experienced this
I had that surgery about 12 years ago and it's back
I have had a small hiatal hernia for years and none of my doctors ever wanted to do anything about it. It doesn't bother me, so I’m fine with that.
I’ve had a hiatal hernia for many years and I didn’t know until I had a ct scan for my chest. I noticed the that when I bent forward causing some pressure in the hernia area, it feels like it shifted and this caused discomfort but it would go away when I stand up straight and massage the area it would move back to normal. I asked the doctor about it and he said it’s a small hiatal hernia but he didn’t offer any help with it, I don’t want surgery and I’m just reading that it often comes back.
Same here! Before I even knew that I have Gerd, I would sometimes bend down to tie my shoes. Something hard was felt close to my upper stomach and there was pain like my Diaphragm was in spasms. I did the same thing, massaged the area and it would resolve. Don't feel it often now since I try not to bend down that way.
