I have been on the generic version of Fosamax for 1 year. I have not really had any side effects, but I'm a bit concerned that I could have long-term effects. It was shortly after I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I was only 63. Shouldn't there be something else to try before being prescribed a med? I'm not sure that these specialty Doctor's want to help ...I worry that it's easier to just give you a drug. Also, my frax score is 9.28% for 10 years. Is that bad? The doctor didn't say I had any physical limitations and encouraged tennis! I thought that was a bit aggressive. The only thing she recommended as a preventative measure was to put slip guards under our rugs. Also, I'm doing my own reading to help prevent compression fractures...like working on my posture and safe exercises. Any thoughts?

Check out the supplement AlgaeCal.

I asked google AI which said: Some sources suggest that a risk of less than 10% over 10 years for major fractures might be considered low risk.

At any rate at most it is moderate.
