Y90
Pnets KI67 25%. My husband had 3 captems cycles. The last cycle had toxicity and became sick. Anyone experience Y90 procedure for Pnets mets to the liver? I have read many net patients use Captem to shrink tumors for a few cycles. Not sure why the Dr wants to dive into Y90 already. Unless it is because my husband got sick the last cycle of Captem. But didn't use anti nausea meds either, unfortunately. Anyone have good results with Y90 and was successful?

I had very high tumor burden to both sides of the liver. Primary pancreatic gastrinomas causing very high gastrin 2,000 I started with Lanreotide injections to control symptoms. Had 7 months of Captem no tumor shrinkage! Gastrin was still out of control next was y-90 it wasn’t fun however it worked very well it shrunk most tumors Gastrin level has dropped to 200 been good now for 2-1/2 years let me know if you have any questions. My ki-67 is only 7% your husband is 25% much more aggressive. The y-90 makes sense to me they need to get tumor growth under control asap with something more aggressive where does he go for treatment?
My husband had y90 for a 50% liver tumor burden 15 years ago. It was wildly successful, killing almost all of them and keeping the rest stable for at least 10 years
Thank you for your reply!! He is going to Moores cancer center UCSD.
That is fantastic! I believe they said 15% isn't functioning. Not sure about the burden. What I am concerned with is that. He has the nets in the middle of the pancreas and says they cannot operate. Maybe they mean for now? So isn't the nets going to travel back to the liver without taking care of the pancreas? We need the y90 consultation.
Thank you!!
Opps I replied for you below. What was your husbands grade?
Thank you. Did you have surgery on the pancreas? Are you nonfuctional? I hope he heals well after the y90. Before the Dr mentioned another drug to use after captem so that is why after the next appt we were surprised about the Y90 suggestion. Also could be because he experienced gastritis etc after the Tem part of Captem.
I have a 4.5 cm tumor in the head of the pancreas and an atrophied tail as well no surgery was suggested pancreas function is good as is the liver. However I do have functioning tumors (gastrinomas). I was told my pancreatic tumor is slower growing that’s why it wasn’t treated as aggressively. I think liver tumors grow faster because of blood supply does anyone know if that’s true?
I suppose it is possible that the nets will travel back to the liver if they can't remove the primary.
I think we may have had a discussion on another post so forgive me if this is repetitive, but is he seeing a net specialist? Often net specialist surgeons will operate when others won't.
My husband's primary ki67 was 7%
I have heard thst with these tumors the secondary tumor can grow bigger than the primary so I think so. The Dr doesn't seem to be concerned with the pancreas tumor right now anyway. I hope it will shrink with meds. In the beginning they said both sites were about the same size but right now they day the pancreas one is bigger. We don't wa t to wait too long for Y90 because I don't know if it is too big the Y 90 might not be an option. We will probably get a zoom call later. Obviously all of our questions didn't get answered all in one appt last visit.
