Yes, that's Pluvicto. My father was supposed to get it, but chemo killed him and in my country you have to get chemo before Pluvicto. You need to do a PSMA PET scan to see if you're even a candidate for it. It's gonna show all your mets, and there will be a score attached to them, so you need score 3 for all or most of them to get the treatment. I've heard good things about it, but i couldn't tell you first hand. It's supposed to be safer then chemo and can be repeated when PSA goes up again, but doesn't stop working the second time around like chemo.
It’s radioactive and attacks the DNA helix of the cancer cell- 33% success rate I ve read.
Thank you.
Sorry your father did not get to receive this treatment.
My husband is doing chemo therapy now.
This is Pluvicto, The most common PSMA Pet scan you can get. It will show whether or not there is cancer in your body as long as the cancer is large enough (2.7mm or more).
I know quite a few people that have had this treatment. It works really well for 1/3 of people it works OK for 1/3 of people and it doesn’t work at all for 1/3 of people.
It is recommended that you get a hereditary and somatic DNA tests before you have your Pluvicto Treatment. That shows whether or not you have genetic issues that either benefit or Have problems with Pluvicto.
Pluvicto genetic issues
RB1, PTen, TP53 are Pluvicto resistant, Doesn’t work well
ATM & BRCA work better with Pluvicto
Please watch out for infections, even if his WBC don't go down.
Dr. Johnson (of Mayo Clinic) talks about Pluvicto in his presentation (from a couple of years ago), starting with the scans we’ve all heard about (MRI, bone, & CT scans), and then going into detail about PSMA PET scans & Pluvicto: https://youtu.be/JoJomACA5UM
