Sent my R/O (UFHPTI) a portal message on this and will let you know.

I do know during my consultations at UFHPTI going over treatments and side affects it was disclosed that the beam enters just above the hip on both sides and commonly causes a sun burn type redness as the treatments continue.

I got this redness about size of my fist on both sides and brought it up to my R/O there as well as my tech team. Both said yes common side affect. They all stated after treatments end will slowly turn to a tan look and then slowly blend back to normal look. They were right on.

But as I posted I have asked if there have been any addtional side affects beyond this to hips or hip area.

Thanks jc, that’s what I was looking for. My 1st RO seemed to suggest that was a drawback from Proton. I think he meant that having to go through the hips on each side was a limiting factor. I suspect he was building a case for the IMRT. He does use imaging while dosing, which Mayo (PHX) does not. That is a positive to me.
