For those who have taken or are taking Mucinex/Guaifenesin, what are your thoughts for someone with BE/NTM who is non-productive - helpful or no? I don’t have chest congestion and every time a doctor listens to my lungs they say the lungs sound clear. BUT … my CT shows impacted mucus. I do my airway clearance of course but little to nothing comes up. This is not surprising to me as I have no sense of congestion or mucus/sputum in my lungs … and yet it is there on CT. I feel fine so I am cautious about throwing too much at “the problem” and finding myself with unwanted side-effects. Curious what others here think, especially any of my fellow “non-productives” who may have tried Mucinex/Guaifenesin. Thanks.

I'm in same situation. I ordered some over a year ago after a CT showed "mucoid impaction" and I was determined to get it out. It took a few days to come and by then, I'd talked myself out of another med. : )
My PFT's are very good, so for now, I'll just keep nebbing.
