Ask you doctor if you can do a trial of low dose naltrexone. Naltrexone is thought to minimize inflammation and modulate the immune system. I have about a 50% reduction in pain with a 3.5 mg dose per day. It is a prescription drug and must be created in a compounding pharmacy for this low of a dose. You start with a very low dose like .5 or 1.5 mg and work slowly to 4.5 mg. I dropped back down to 3.5 mg as that dose worked best for me.

It does have some side effects the first week or two. I was tired some days and had more energy on others to begin with. I had insomnia if I took it too late in the day. Now I just get more energy about two hours after I take it and it relieves the pain...nice to wake up and not have my knees throbbing. I also had vivid dreams (not nightmares) for about the first two weeks.

I'm also taking LDN for Limited Diffuse Scleroderma. I have found it helpful, but had to interupt it for surgery so am starting back up. What time of day do you find is best to take it?

LDN has definately helped with my pain too.
