Comments about CBD and/or THC for neuropathy pain and paresthesia?

Posted by amkie @amkie, May 25, 2024

Anyone tried CBD topically or THC gummies or anything on that order for the burning radiating pain of neuropathy? Also has anyone had a neurologist suggest this as a potential therapy? I will ask my own neurologist but wanted some broader input in the meantime. Success anyone? My family thinks this should be considered. I have tried various topical and oral prescribed medications with little success so far. Thanks for any comments.

I have several medications for peripheral neuropathy in my feet, one is nortriptyline, pregabalin 300mls, CBD 100 FULL SPECTRUM 100mL oil taken with an (eye) dropper sublingually (under the tongue). The CBD has worked well for me for 8 months numbing the strong pain especially in the evening. I feel that I should try dropping one of the medications and I am thinking of the nortriptyline.

I find that interesting. Do you have side effects? I'm taking an oil under the tongue but find it makes me so fatigued all day, not much of an alternative. Mine is RSO

I see that your extract is mainly from the THC part of the plant, which normally gives the high when smoked etc. I don't have any side effects, fortunately!

These two ladies appeared on Dragons Den and won over nearly all the panelist’s with their CBD extract gummies for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy neuropathy. The dragons were all interested in making a deal. They’ve since gone into production and the reviews from users are very positive. Has anyone tried them?

Hello @bigjohnscho,

I combined your discussion with an existing discussion in Neuropathy titled:

I tried 10 mgs thc/10 mgs cbd in California and Colorado. It worked. I slept all night plus I ate the next morning. I normally just pick at my food because I am nausea over the pain.

Did you take the 10mg all at once?
I take same ratio only I can only take 1/4 of a gummie every 3-4 hours. I've only been taking for 2 weeks so possibly can increase in time. Glad to hear it worked for you, I'm still on the fence.

The first time I ever tried it. My husband had me break it in half wait an hour to see how it worked. I took the other half that night but didn’t take my opioids with it. I can’t take the one with butane (a form of gasoline).. It triggers my asthma. I use mct which is coconut oil. When he was younger he smoked back in the 70’s. it but the one time I ever tried marijuana I hallucinated on it when I was 16 now 63. Last year was in California took the whole 10 mgs of indica at night. I did not wake up at 2:30 in bed in nerve pain. Since, I stay in pain and don’t want to use opioids my preference is to make my own edibles without the chemicals. My son picked it out for me. He read up and became a licensed bud tender. We are hoping to end up in Colorado Springs currently in live in Texas but stationed in Germany. This session Gov Abbott made 10 mgs legal for thc medical but almost approved SB3 making all marijuana illegal in the State of Texas. He vetoed it 5 minutes before midnight last night or it would become permanently illegal in Texas closing down all stores. We were holding our breaths.

Even 5 mg of CBD helps me with the nausea/lack of appetite. Here in Canada--Ontario--we can buy cannabis drinks with various amounts of CBD, CBG and THC. The drinks seem gentler than gummies. The 5mg of CBD/5mg of THC combo is good both for bringing on the munchies, and hugely improving my guitar playing!
