Everything I have read so far related to Glute Max transfer surgery refers to post-op improvement of hip abductor function, and gait improvement, which is the goal. My question is: are there statictics/studies that include failure of the Glute Max transfer surgery itself? Did anyone come out worse off than they were before the surgery? I had Glut Med/Min tendon repair and came out with a limp that I didn't have going in. I'm facing Total Hip Arthroplasty with Glute Max transfer on the same side, in the same surgical visit.

Oh my, a hip arthroplasty and a gluteus maximus transfer at same time! May I know facility and surgeon performing your surgery. As you know, gluteus maximus transfers are tricky/difficult and when you ask your surgeon how many gl transfers he/she has performed what is the answer? I am searching for an orthopedic surgeon who has performed at least a minimum of 10 successful gl transfers before setting up a appointment for myself. Thank you for your response.
