Speaking as a research scientist (not medicine), covid and covid vaccine illnesses/deaths are new enough that doctors don't yet know what is going on. Some doctors are dismissive and otherwise of limited use. Cuts to CDC, NIH, and university medical grants will further slow research, which takes years because of (1) funding and staffing with experts in that subset of research, (2) clinical trials which can take several years, and (3) publication and sharing with other scientists (generally also a year or more). Even though serious vaccine reactions are considered rare, if hundreds of millions of people are vaccinated, then the total number of people with reactions also increases.
