Has anyone used Mepitel ?
I’m about to start radiation therapy and I have incredibly sensitive skin. Has anyone used Mepitel to ease the severity of skin issues? And if so, how was your experience? Did it help?

I honestly don't know if Mepitel one is the same as the Mepitel film I used for radiation, so I would suggest reaching out to a doctor. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
After further research, it looks like mepitel and mepitel one are very similar. However, mepitel film looks more like a tegaderm with a paper border and thinner. Now I'm worried that I got the wrong one. I got mepitel one. But I see the photos on this thread that @sessioja used mepitel bought from Amazon. @svb , you mentioned that you got mepitel film at the Mayo Clinic store in Rochester. Ugh... I don't live near there. And I can't find it on amazon. Ebay has it from Australia or UK. All my internet searches seem to find mepitel and mepitel one for sale, but not mepitel film. I'll see what my doctor says. I'm afraid I might have to start treatment without it.
Here’s a link to the Mayo Clinic online store:

I am pursuing this with my radiologist at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland OR where I start radiation today. Their Breast Health Center is one of the top facilities in the country and I just cannot believe they don’t use it when the research is so clear about the benefit. I ordered Mepitel Film from the Mayo Clinic Store and will watch the video with my husband. Hopefully he can apply it for me. I’m a swimmer, and getting back in the pool depends on how my skin reacts. This is so important to me!
Good for you, being our own advocate for what we need while in treatment is so important to our well being. Since swimming is so important to you, this could be your quality of life issue.
These films are an exciting, relatively new thing to help us prevent burning and scarring. Although I am long since done with radiation I am very happy to read of this success.
How many treatments are scheduled? Won’t you please come back and let me know how you are doing?
Thank you, I have 16 radiation sessions scheduled. A relatively short course compared to some. Fingers crossed!
I can’t wait to hear how it goes. You got this💕
I got my Mepitel FILM (not Mepitel One) from Canadian Medical Store https://canadianmedicalstore.ca/ which was mentioned by my radiologist in AZ.
Hello all:
Yes, Mepitel Film (not plain Mepitel or Mepitel One--these are different products) is great! Used it for 33 sessions of breast radiation including underarm, collarbone lymph nodes and neck. There are many medical journal articles highlighting Mepitel film's usefulness. There is an excellent article in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Dec. 2022, "Mepitel Film for the prevention of acute radiation dermatitis in breast radiation".
There are other medical journal articles--use search terms: Mepitel breast radiation.
The Mepitel Film helped me a lot!
There are some in-service YouTube videos produced by the manufacturer (a Swedish company called Molnlycke) of Mepitel on how to apply it. One tip is to use one sheet on the underarm. That's not a place to patchwork it.
When showering, place a small towel over your shoulder so rhat the water does not directly hit the top of the Mepitel on your shoulder or chest.
Good luck everyone!
