It’s crucial to understand that smoking poses serious health risks and can profoundly affect your well-being. Cigarettes lower the seizure threshold and impact nearly every organ system in your body.

I strongly urge you to quit smoking immediately; this is the most effective way to protect yourself from seizures and enhance your overall health. While nicotine is likely the primary factor in lowering the seizure threshold, harmful substances like ammonia, acetone, carbon monoxide, and arsenic also contribute.

Take care,
Jake

Thank you Jake. I did not know these items were seizure precipitants. I have never smoked. I have a list of seizure precips in my phone so I will add these.

Hello Jake. This question is for you. I live in NM. For the last 4 years. About a month ago I think due to high UV index here now-11 plus wildfires and the heat when I am outside during the day even early am to walk my dogs ( 0800) I get to feeling fatigue some lightheadness. I wear a sunscreen. I Stay hydrated. I wear sunglasses. I suspect my body is giving me a warning about a seizure risk. Do you agree? This has surprised me. This is new. Thank you.

Hi @jakedduck1
I was surprised to learn that smoking can lower the seizure threshold. That's new information for me, thanks! Do you happen to know if nicotine replacement gums like Nicorette can also affect seizure threshold?
