Has anyone been given the okay to eat without first taking the prescribed enzymes? Got our of the hospital earlier today with ZENPEP script needing to transferred as hospital pharmacy did not have it. And have not found it anywhere else, guess I’ll now eat something and take my chances, until we can find the med. I had the Whipple on June 10.

ask your care team... They can usually suggest something... Sometimes they have samples they can give you until you get going on a supply.

All the zenpep does is provide the mechanism for the adsorption of nutrients out of the food you take in. Are you with a partial pancreas still or without it totally as I am. Without the zenpep, if you are w/o a pancreas, you basically are just passing the food through your system w/o adsorbing any of the nutrients from the food. If you’re still with a partial pancreas then you are providing some digestive enzymes and the zenpep is just being used as a supplement to what you can still produce. Best to find it and take them with your meals and snacks as suggested by your surgeon.

I believe you can contact Zenpep and they will assist you in both finding and finding a pharmacy
